The poetry section of the issue presents poems by Mikhail Pozdnyaev, Marina Kudimova, Aleksandr Revich and Vladimir Levinzon.

We are publishing the novel "Freedom of Choice" by Sergei Zalygin, the short storu "On the Breaks" by, as well as the end of the narrative "The Cage" by Anatoly Azolsky.

The section "Essays of Nowadays" presents the essay "At the Crossroads" by Boris Yekimov.

In the section "Publications and Reports" we are publishing the article "The Passport System of the Soviet Serfage" by V. Popov.

The section "Art World" offers the notes by Aleksandr Sokolyansky about the "Berlin - Moscow" exhibition.

In the section "Book Review" Aleksandr Arkhangelsky reviews new books on Pushkin studies; Irina Rodnyanskaya reviews a new edition by Nikolay Zabolotsky; Olga Mayorova reviews the book "The Russians" by Stanislav Rassadin; Yuri Kublanovsky reviews the first volume of the collected publicistic works by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn; Maya Zlobina reviews the book "Stalin and Literature" by A. Berzer.

In the section "Briefly About Books" Olga Kuznetsova reviews the books "The American ABC" by Aleksandr Genis, "Inventions" by Aleksandr Zholkovsky and "Letters to the Angels" by Andrei Levkin.

In the section "Russian Books Abroad" Sergei Kostyrko reviews the novel "Though Fresh in Its Renown" by I. Grekova.

In the section "Foreign Books About Russia" Irina Rodnyanskaya reviews a book by N. Shneidman on Russian literature of 1986 - 1994.

The issue also presents our traditional sections "Bookshelf" and "Periodics".
